How it occurred:

The immigration in Brazil started on the XIX century with the opening of the ports; "Friends Nation” of 1808 and with the country’s independence in 1822. Is good to remember that before the “Friends Nation” the displacement of the population already had occurred with the coming of the black population to Brazil from the Atlantic Ocean. Millions of colored people had come to Brazil with the destination of forming a workmanship. Already the Brazilian monarchy was trying to attract immigrant for the south region offering lots of land; with the intention to turn small agricultural landowners. The first emigrants to immigrate in Brazil were the Germans and the Italians, in 1870. These immigrants had established in the state of Santa Catarina and in Rio Grande do Sul. Although the majority of immigrants in Brazil really started in the mid 1880.

Along the years the state that more attracted immigrants was the state of São Paulo; also changing the objective of its comings for Brazil. The idea to attract families with the objective to turn landowners was not working as well it was before. The immigrants were come to Brazil as a way to get workers for the coffee farms. With the coming of immigrants to Brazil, people saw as a way to abolish the working of slaves. The immigration was stimulated, for two strong reasons. One of them, for the fact that the economy was suffering a transformation in some European countries. Taking in consideration that the tickets and the ship transportation were cheap. With this, the United States, Brazil, and Argentina were the main countries to receive immigrants.
