SALMUN 2009

The basic rule of debate, if there is one, is DO NOT PANIC. If you are well-prepared and your resolution is strong, you have all the background needed for success. When you have to stand up and talk in front of the caucus – and even the General Assembly – there is no need for nervousness. Of course there is that moment of anxiety and questioning. “Is what I am going to say right?”, “Are they going to laugh at me?” or “Am I saying something foolish?” are all common questions for a delegate to have. No one is going to laugh at you. Remember, everybody is in that same situation you are in. They are all delegates that also need to stand up, talk clearly and withstand all of the criticism and questioning of their resolution.
